Antequera dates back to Moorish times, the castle ruins provide a dramatic backdrop to the town below. Apart from the many historic monuments to visit, Antequera has great shops, especially leather goods and ceramics. Also nearby are the spectacular El Chorro lakes and gorges, a great place for a day out, picnicking and swimming in the turquoise clear waters. Staff at the nearby hotel are on hand to help you plan your holiday. They can supply daily maid service and baby sitters on request. Tennis, horse riding, mountain bike, walks and maps of the area, hot air balloon trips are also available upon request. Nearest shops are just a 1.5 kilometer drive away in the "white village" of La Joya. Amenities here include grocers, bakery, chemist and the all important tapas bars!
